Our Holden HQ Monaro Coupe

We first found this car in a friends shed in mid 2004. As you can see it was fairly rough and over the couple of years that followed we had to piece the car back together to find out what parts were missing and what needed to be replaced and repaired.

We are now in the process of getting the body totally free of rust, once that is done the rebuild will start. Wendy is wanting the car in a bright purple!! (her favourite colour).
The Interior will be back to original GTS condition, Black.

Originally the car was white with a brown interior. The motor was a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed auto gearbox. It now has a 186 6cyl motor with a 3 speed manual gearbox. As the car was missing some panels we managed to pick up some genuine GTS guards, nosecone and interior dash complete with the GTS gauges.

       

The motor that came with the car was totally wrecked, leaking from everywhere it could!!! So we purchased a HQ station wagon and stripped it for parts, the motor and gearbox were great and had never been rebuilt, but surprisingly in good condition, the only part we had to replace on the gearbox was the clutch plate, which was worn.

       

       

       

After putting the car back together, there are now only a few items that we need.

       

       

Bodywork is being done by Zelukovic smash repairs in Orange, big thank you to Ben, his family and the team.
Some of their work has been seen in the Australian Street Machine magazine.

As the work progresses we will be adding more photo's to keep you updated with the restoration.

We hope to take the car to local car shows and just enjoy a beautiful old piece of Australian motoring.
