Born in Mt Isa, 27th June 1973, north Queensland, Australia during the end of the Vietnam war, his father was a miner at the copper smelter, & went to the Good Shepherd catholic school. They moved south in 1980, over 2000klm to a small country town in central new south Wales called Canowindra. New town, new school at St Edwards. Living in a small town with only 1700 people was a challenge and so he decided to take up a hobby. His mother had an old Maton guitar (model F11) that she had received from her mother in the 60's, so it was decided to learn on it. Years went by and the interest grew, as learning music at school developed a love for the guitar. Experience in playing over the years, mainly at church services, and a few youth group camps, just added fuel to the fire of wanting to play even more. His parents separated when he was 10 years of age, and with no brothers or sisters, he had learnt a lot from his mother. During those years he was introduced to a huge range of music, from Catholic hymns & chorus's right through the 50's-80's music. From Amazing Grace by John Newton to The Beatles, Eric Clapton & Cold Chisel. Towards the end of school the big questions had started to penetrate his mind, life?, what happens after you die? Etc, Etc. He had grown up with a strong belief in God through the Catholic church, but something was missing in his life? He tried smoking, drinking, sex, different jobs, the army, and a range of other things to find purpose in life. All this happened before he finished grade 12. During the last couple of years a musician just starting out had arrived at Canowindra to perform at the local town hall his name was Steve Grace (www.stevegrace.com). That concert had an effect on Spencer's life but didn't exactly know what it was till later on. Having been involved with a youth group for a couple of years he had met some people that were a little different. They seemed to have it all together. In June 1991 he had a long talk to a young lady about life and Jesus Christ and what he had done for him. "That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord & believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe & are justified, & it is with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10. That conversation lasted till early in the morning with Spencer questioning everything all the way. On the way home that morning he gave his life to the Lord praying and rejoicing all the way. From that time on nothing has ever been the same or has it ever been dull. After finishing school he travelled north again to join a bible college called cornerstone in Emerald. There he met his wife Wendy, together at the end of 1992 they left and got married down at Canowindra town hall 26th June 1993. In the years that followed they had a daughter on the 9th of August 1995, named Gemma Ashleigh Taylor Chapman. Also travelling up and down the east side of Australia they were in and out of Cornerstone up until the end of 1997. During that time he was teaching guitar full time for 1 year, which involved approx 200 students at various towns in central new south Wales. Spencer learning more and more about music being self taught, getting tips and ideas wherever he could, still playing in churches and some events where needed. Leaving Cornerstone for the last time in 1997 they travelled back to Emerald to settle down and raise a family. There Son was born on 15th June 1998 Kyle Connor Vincent Chapman. Spencer started teaching guitar again full time, but it wasn't enough income. So he sort the Lord for a job. One was advertised in the local church bulletin for a manager of a retail shop selling mobile phones. Not knowing if he would get the job he applied and through some amazing people God worked his wonders and he got the job. He is still working in the franchise called Network Communications (www.networkcommunications.com.au) which consists of over 70 shops around Australia, all run by Christian people, all staff, managers, and anyone who has anything to do with it are Christian people. What an amazing God we have, still amazing was the fact that this franchise supports Steve Grace, the man who had been a part of Spencer's early conversion. The business also started the very first Christian TV Channel in Australia. (www.acctv.com.au). In September 2002 Spencer went on his first mission trip overseas to Fiji, playing songs in small villages, seeing other cultures for the first time worshiping our Lord Jesus. A life changing experience and one that the Lord Jesus had supplied all the finance for. All Glory belongs to Jesus, and praise for the lives that were touched and healed. Three years later continually praying, seeking the Lords guidance, and saving money. The right time and the right place came about for the recording of the debut album "NEW DREAM". Recorded on the sunshine coast Queensland, Spencer spent a week at the studio with producer Craig Ross fine tuning the sounds that you now hear. Also with the help of Rob Wood and Geoff Bentley from the Australian Christian Channel they designed and created the covers and Poster for the album. "NEW DREAM" was released 15th of December 2005. Spencer has also become an advocate for Compassion with releasing children from poverty with child sponsorship and a member of Gideon's International giving away bibles to schools, hospitals, motels, hotels and people anywhere in need. In October 2006 Spencer and his family moved to Orange in New South Wales to serve the Lord where He works in Network Communications and teaches the Guitar, Banjo and Mandolin. This way it is a very full and involved ministry, his CD (something to listen to), also giving a copy of the bible, Gideon's new testament, psalms and proverbs (something to read), and information on child sponsorship through Compassion (something to be involved in). On the 3rd of February 2008, Spencer was commissioned to become Music Director/Minister of Mountain Hope church. Signed with Incubator Creative Group www.incubatoronline.com 11th April 2008. An American Christian recording company, designed to help emerging artists. An Answer to prayer and a great way to successfully grow in the music ministry as a "Musicianary". There are many other things that have happened, and throughout the time of his life there have been many challenges, and choices to be made. But through it all the Lord Jesus Christ is always there no matter what happens. For He will never leave us or forsake us, as we are his children all learning and growing serving Him on His earth, to bring about His Kingdom, turning peoples hearts to know a loving caring God, no matter where you are or what you do, or who you are. Jesus will never, ever let you down. Now as Spencer continues to serve the one and only true God, the adventure is getting bigger and we hope that you would like to be a part of it, by praying that in everything Spencer may Glorify God, to reach people, that lives be renewed in new life abounding in hope and love through our Saviour Jesus Christ.
